The Harari Heritage Center is a voluntary non-profit organization with the aim of assisting its members and other minorities with similar interests in leading a useful and productive life in Canada. The Harari Heritage is also a place of worship where we attempt to hold on to our cultural roots and our religious background. The centre is highly envisaged to improve the quality of life of its members and its affiliates by mobilizing its resources through education and training. Its vision is to integrate the Harari community fully into Canadian life while maintaining Harari culture and values. It endeavors everything at its disposal to foster and flourish the development of their cultural heritage within the framework of multiculturalism based on the provincial parameters and paradigms. The Heritage Center is open and encompasses all walks of Hararis irrespective of their political and social affinities..
VISION
Our vision is to inspire both youth and adults to discover their heritage and to utilize that knowledge for the betterment of Harar and for their Canadian life. By providing services such as tutoring, seniors programs, Harari classes and religion classes we will hopefully help to create well rounded Harari individuals that will contribute to their society.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Harari Heritage Centre is:
- To encourage two-way knowledge and skills between our Harari youth and our elders.
- To provide a wide range of services to our members.
- To provide a place of worship for all ages.
- To act as culturally appropriate base and for the provision of advise, guidance, education and training
- To provide recreational activities that engage children .
- To co-operate with other communities and voluntary organizations to provide comprehensive activities and assistance.
